The Embassy of the Dominican Republic participated in the "Hispanic Day on the Hill", celebrated on October 16 by the Parliament of Canada to pay tribute to the diversity and contributions of the Hispanic community to Canadian society.
As part of the activities of the Latin American Heritage Month, which in this nation takes place during October, the Parliament of Canada celebrated for the second consecutive year a day dedicated to hispanic culture, where Canadian officials took the opportunity to share with members of the Latin American community in Ottawa and delegations of GRULA (Group of Latin American embassies accredited by the Government of Canada).
The event was chaired by the Honourable Pablo Rodríguez P.C., Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, along with the Hon. Rosa Gálvez, Senator for Québec (Bedford), and the Hon. Julie Dzerowicz, M.P. for Davenport.
Most of the Dominican delegation attended the event on behalf of Ambassador Pedro Vergés, who at the moment was visiting the Province of Prince Edward Island as part of an economic mission coordinated by Global Affairs Canada.
