Ambassador Vergés joined the Senate of Canada, along with other ambassadors of Latin America, in support of the statement made by Quebec Senator, the Honourable Rosa Gálvez, on the commitment shown by a group of Hispanic missions with the strengthening of relationships within the framework of the “Latin American Heritage Month” in Canada, whose first official celebration took place in October of this year.

The words of Gálvez in the Senate Chamber were preceded by a social gathering in which the countries that were part of the “Hispanic Day on the Hill” shared with the senator, who thanked the heads of mission present there for their collaboration with the organization of the event that had been held at the Parliament on October 16, and highlighted the importance that the Hispanic community represents for the cultural diversity of Canadá.

For his part, the Dominican ambassador put himself at the disposal of the Senator to serve as a tool and support for the measures implemented by the Canadian government aimed at promoting the Hispanic culture. Ambassador Vergés said that “Senator Gálvez, of Peruvian origin, is a personification of the contribution of Hispanic culture to Canadian society and we should applaud her marked interest in working with Latin American missions in order to ensure that the “Latin American Heritage Month” has a tangible and significant impact in this country.
