Dominican and Canadian authorities visit the pluvial and sanitation works being done in "Cañada Guajimía"

Santo Domingo. - The Senator from the province of Santo Domingo, Cristina Lizardo, in the company of architect Alejandro Montás, Director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD), Pedro Verges, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Canada, and Shauna Hemingway, Ambassador of Canada in the Dominican Republic, walked through the pluvial and sanitary works being done in the “Cañada Guajimía”.

The Dominican counterpart thanked the cooperation of the Canadian Government amounting to 138 million dollars, out of which 50 million will be invested in the second phase of the sanitation project of the “cañada” that is located in Santo Domingo Oeste (SDO).

According to Montás, the project is divided into three parts: the first phase consists in sanitation works; in the second phase, a wastewater treatment plant will be built, and the third stage consists in the installation of a marine outfall. It has been estimated that the project will positively impact the quality of life of 300,000 people.
