The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Canada and the Exports and Investment Center (CEI-RD), with the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, successfully concluded the "Series of Webinars: Business Opportunities in the Canadian Market", held on July 24, 28 and 30, 2020 and aimed at Dominican exporters interested in this important market, as well as Dominican institutions involved in trade.
The series of virtual seminars, carried out through Zoom and Youtube Live, featured keynote presentations by Alma Farias, Managing Partner of Business Development at the international trade consulting firm Trade Partners; Jaime Bustamante, Trading Assistance Manager at the Fruit and Vegetable Dispute Resolution Corporation (DRC), and Daniel Burgoyne, National Manager for Food Imports at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, who explained to the participants the opportunities in the fresh produce market, ways to establish direct relationships with Canadian entrepreneurs and the main trade regulations for exporting to that country, among other topics.
During the webinars, also participated the Dominican ambassador to Canada, Pedro Vergés, who highlighted the important role of the Canadian market in the Dominican economy making emphasis on the need to give continuity to the essential aspects of bilateral relations in which the Embassy has been working with special dedication, as well as the Director of Assitance and Service of the CEI-RD, Lissette Henríquez, and the Counsellor Wendy Goico Campagna, in charge of the Trade and Investment Section of the Embassy, who were responsible for organizing this event, on behalf of both institutions, and Mr. Marconis Nerio, Manager of Training in International Trade of the CEI-RD, moderator of the seminars. All this was possible thanks to the invaluable help of the Embassy's Communications and Press Section, made up of Counsellors Orly Pérez and Melvin Paredes.
During the closing of the virtual seminars, Mr. Hugo Rivera, Vice Minister for Economic Affairs and Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, welcomed the initiative for the celebration of this event and highlighted the importance of the Canadian market for the Dominican Republic.
