Ambassador Pedro Vergés received a special recognition from the Canadian association Hispanic Heritage Quebec for his contributions, collaboration and commitment to that institution during his tenure. In 2019, the Dominican Republic was chosen as the guest of honor of the commemorative celebrations of Hispanic Heritage Month, during which they carried out: the First Dominican Book Exhibit in Canada, a series of seminars on Dominican literature, the screening of the movie “Flor de Azúcar” and donations of books written by Dominican authors to the libraries of McGill University and Concordia University, among other activities.
The recognition was delivered by its president, Mirta Yepez, in the presence of Daniel Regalado, Vice President; Alexandra Regalado, General Director; Edwin Serna, Finance Director, Paula Marín, Head of Communications, and officials from the diplomatic mission in Canada.
Hispanic Heritage Québec is a non-profit organization based in the city of Montreal, which looks after the well-being of the Hispanic and Latino community in the province of Quebec. They were the precursors of the 1904 law that since 2018 proclaims, in the Honorable National Assembly of Quebec, the month of October as the month of Hispanic Heritage in that Canadian province.
