October 15, 2020

The Embassy of the Dominican Republic is pleased to congratulate the young Dominican María José Hermida Lied, 18 years old, chosen to present a painting of her authorship in the exhibition “ARTiculate our Rights”, for the contribution of her work to the promotion of human rights.

The art exhibit is organized by the Manitoba Museum for Human Rights to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Manitoba's founding as a province of Canada.

More than 100 youths between the ages of 13 and 18 participated in the selection process of the works to be exhibited, of which 26 pieces were selected. The exhibition is on display until October 31 in The Forks, Winnipeg.

Maria Josè came to Canada with her parents in 2014. She is currently a Business Administration student at the University of Manitoba.
