The diplomatic missions of the Dominican Republic are governed by the Law No. 630-16 of July 28, 2016, concerning the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign relations of the Republic are directed by the President. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs aims to support him through the Minister, in systematic coordination of the fundamental principles of the foreign policy of the Dominican Republic, the direction and supervision of the diplomatic missions and consular services and management of other issues inherent to the Ministry.
The diplomatic missions of the Dominican Republic aim to maintain cordial relations with States and international organizations that are accredited, to ensure the dignity and prestige of the nation and defend and make known its rights and interests, according to the political, economic, and social principles embodied by the Dominican people in the Constitution of the Republic.
