Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Culture, the Dominican Ambassador to Canada, and the President of the Commission of National Events announced the details of the organization of the First Dominican Book Exhibit in Canada.
The announcement of the Dominican participation was made by the architect Minister Eduardo Selman, Ambassador Pedro Vergés, and the historian Juan Daniel Balcácer, during a press conference offered at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture.
The First Dominican Book Exhibit in Canada will be held from October 15-17 of the current year and will be organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Canada, and the Commission of National Events.
Minister Eduardo Selman highlighted the diplomatic fraternity that exists between the Dominican Republic and Canada, the presence in Canada of a laborious community of Dominicans, and the fact that this exhibit coincides with the celebration, in that nation, of Hispanic Heritage Month 2019.
Referring to the event, the former Minister of Culture, Ambassador Pedro Vergés, explained that the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, to be held in Montreal and Ottawa, was an initiative established by the Canadian Government in 2017. The selection of the Dominican Republic as host country was decided by the Quebec Hispanic Heritage Council, he explained.
He said that, during that activity, the country will present an exhibition of Dominican books: Literature, History and Cinema in Canada, organized jointly with the Concordia University and taking place in Montreal on October 15, 17 and 17 of 2019. The event will be sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic.
